Lord's pet animals

Nanda Maharaja had 900,000 cows. Visvanatha Cakravarti gives this description of the

cows  of Vrindavana. Krishna knew every cow by name. If any cow was missing Krishna

immediately chase after the missing cow and call her by name. The cows were divided into

herds by color, either black, white, red, or yellow. In each color there were 25 further

divisions making a total of 100 herds. There were also eight herds of cows that were spotted

or speckled or had heads shaped like a mridanga or that had tilak marks on their foreheads.

There was a total of 108 different herds of cows. Each of the 108 herds had a herd leader.

"Thus when Krishna calls out, 'Hey Dhavali' (the name of a white cow) a whole group of white

cows comes forward, and when Krishna calls 'Hamsi, Candani, Ganga, Mukta' and so on, the

twenty-four other groups of white cows come. The reddish cows are called 'Aruni, Kunkuma,

Sarasvati, etc., the blackish ones 'Shyamala, Dhumala, Yamuna, etc., and the yellowish ones

are Pita, Pingala, Haritaki, etc. (Srimad Bhagavatam 10.35.19 purport)

"As described in the Brahma Samhita (surabhi apbipalayantam), Lord Krishna on His planet,

Goloka Vrindavana, engages in tending the surabhi cows. These cows are the Lord's pet

animals." (Srimad Bhagavatam 8.8.2 purport)

want to see only Sri Krishna.

The story of her birth goes like this – On a half-moon night in the month of Bhadra, King Vrishabhanu came to the Yamuna to bathe and found himself engulfed in a golden aura, the golden aura of pure love. It was emanating from a lotus, which had a baby girl standing on its whorl. When the king returned to the palace with the baby, Queen Kirtida was delighted. She was also shocked that the girl was blind.

Lord Krishna’s mother, Yashoda, heard that her best friend Kirtida had a baby, so she came to visit along with her husband and her son. Krishna crawled up to the cradle and pulled Himself up and looked in. At that moment, Srimati Radharani’s eyes fluttered and opened wide and blossomed like lotuses. It seems that she did not want to see anything of this world, only the form of Sri Krishna.

Krishna- the master of all tricks

Once Radha got false anger with Krishna as He did not come to meet her for long! She became very slim and weak because of the absence of Krishna for long! Actually, Krishna did so, to perform a lila with Radha!

After waiting for a few days for Krishna, Radha sat alone inside her home and instructed all her associate gopis:

“Hey Gopis! All of you stand as protection outside our house! Kanha is playing a game with me now! He will come here one day! He can not remain without me! But, when He comes, never allow Him inside the house! He will make many tricks and make dramas! He is a good actor! Be careful!”

Gopis agreed and did as said by Radha!

Krishna came! He requested His level best to allow Him to enter the house! But, the gopis did not allow Him and said that Radha is very angry with Kanha and they act according to Her instructions only! After many attempts, Krishna went away upset!

But, He is the source of intelligennce! So, He made a trick! He dressed like a lady and went to Radha’s house! He told them that he is the master of all arts and can find a cure to the distress of Radha! As the gopis were worried about Radha’s health, they allowed her (Him).

Krishna entered the house, and spoke like a girl! He also asked Radha to show her palm to find out the reason for her worry! Radha showed. Krishna suddenly caught her hands and showed His original youth form! On seeing that, Radha felt so ashamed and embraced Krishna with Love!

Krishna is the master of all tricks!

Sri Krishna- radha's proprietor

"Being a cowherd girl, Srimati Radharani regularly carries a container of milk & often goes to sell it on the other side of the Yamuna.
To cross the river, She has to pay the boatman, and the spot where the boatman collects his fares is called the dana-ghati.
Lord Sri Krishna stops Her from going,
telling Her, 'First You have to pay the fee; then You will be allowed to go.'
This pastime is called dana-keli-lila.

Similarly, if Srimati Radharani wants to pick a flower, Sri Krishna claims to be the garden's proprietor and prohibits Her. This pastime is called kila-kincita."

Raas- the dance of celebration

Raas, the dance of celebration, is the most profound attribute of the mighty stream of creation The whole of life is a meeting of contradictory forces, and that all its happiness comes from this union of the opposites. The very mystery and ecstasy of life lies hidden in this unio mystica, Raasleela, the dance of celebration.
Raas has a universal meaning; it has a cosmic connotation and significance.
Firstly, the meeting of opposite energies is the cornerstone of all creation, of the universe. This division of energy is at the root of all creation. When the same energy becomes one, when it returns to its primordial state, total destruction, the ending of the universe happens. And when the same energy again divides itself into two, creation begins a new.
Without the meeting of the two, creation is impossible. So we have to go into the significance of Krishna’s raas in this context. Krishna’s raas with the milkmaids of his village is not an ordinary dance, on a small scale it really represents the universal dance of creation that goes on and on. It epitomizes the everlasting drama of the making and unmaking of the universe.
It is for this reason that Krishna’s maharaas ceases to have a sexual connotation. Not that it prohibits any sexual interpretation, but for certain, sex has been left far behind. In reality Krishna does not dance as a mere Krishna, he represents her, the whole of the male element in creation, known in Sanskrit as purusha. And similarly the gopis represent the entire female element, prakriti. The maharaas represents the combined dance of prakriti and purusha.
People who take the maharaas as a sexual representation of life are mistaken; they really don’t understand it. To put it rightly, it is a dance of the meeting of the male and female energies, of purusha and prakriti. It has nothing to do with any individual man and woman; it represents the mighty cosmic dance. It is because of this that a single Krishna dances with any number of gopis. Ordinarily it is not possible for a single man to dance with many women at a time. Ordinarily no man can be in love with many women together, but Krishna does it, and does it beautifully. It is amazing that every milkmaid, every gopi taking part in the maharaas, believes that Krishna is dancing with her, that he is hers. It seems Krishna has turned into a thousand Krishnas so that he pairs off with each of the thousand women present there. It is utterly wrong to take the maharaas, the celebration dance of Krishna, as that of an individual person. Krishna is not a person here; he represents the great male energy, purusha. The maharaas is a representation in dance of the great meeting between male and female energies.

But the question is: Why only dance is chosen as a medium for this representation? Nothing can express it better than dance. Dance is the most primitive form of human language, because when man had not yet learned to speak, he spoke through gestures. To me, the great raas happening in infinite space, with millions of stars like the sun and moon dancing rhythmically, is not an ordinary dance.  In a sense it should be described as overflowing bliss. There is such an abundance of bliss in the heart of existence that it is flowing, overflowing. That is what we call the river of existence. The presence of the polar opposites in the universe facilitates its flow.
Man alone cannot flow; he needs the presence of woman. Without the woman man is inhibited and closed. In the same way, without man the woman is inhibited and closed. Their togetherness causes their energies to spring into the form of love. What we know as love between man and woman is nothing but the flowing of yin and yang together. And this love, if it is not personalized, can have great spiritual significance. The attraction of man and woman for each other is what brings them together so that their latent energies flow into the stream of love and life. That is why a man feels relaxed with a woman and a woman feels at ease with a man. Separated and alone they feel tense and anxious; coming together they feel as light as feathers, weightless. In this interplay of energies, which is raas, And this dance of male and female energies together brings deep contentment and bliss; it turns into an outpouring of joy and bliss.
Although Krishna and his girlfriends are no more with us as people, the moon and the stars under which they danced together are still with us, and so are the trees and the hills and the earth and the skies that were once so drunk with the bliss of the raas. So, although millenia have passed, the vibes of the maharaas are still with us.

Now scientists have come forward with a strange theory. They say although people come and go, the subtle vibes of their lives and their living remain suffused in existence forever. If someone goes to dance on the grounds where Krishna once danced with his gopis he can hear the echoes of the maharaas even today. If someone can play a flute near the hills that in the past echoed with the music of Krishna’s flute, he can hear those hills still echoing it, everlastingly.

In my view, the raas symbolizes the overflowing, outpouring of the primeval energy as it is divided between man and woman. And if we accept this definition, the raas is as relevant today as it was in the times of Krishna. Then it is everlastingly relevant.

Mahabharata have recorded lot of scientific information about embryology

Embryology is the science of development of an embryo from the fertilization of the ovum to the fetus stage. The earliest scientific approach is credited to Aristotle (384 – 322 BC), but indians have done a lot of scientific work, long before Aristotle. Kapil Muni was probably the first man who studied embryo.
The epic Mahabharata written around 5561 BC and the Bhagawata Purana composed around 1652 BC have recorded lot of scientific information about embryology.Ancient Indian rishis had discovered the body secretions, which reproduce and called them Raja (ovum) and Reta (sperm).
The Mahabharata, Shanti Parva, 301, 320, 331, 356, and the Bhagawata 3/31 state that one fine particle of Shukra conjugates with that of Shonit during copulation. The fine particles are sperm and ovum. They termed the conjugate product as ‘Kalala’, whereas modern science terms it as ‘Zygote’ or fertilized ovum. Bhagawata states that only in one night, which means 12 hours’ time, from the coitus, Kalala forms.Science admits that an ovum remains fertilizable for a short time, measured in hours, after its release from ovary.
“dasahena tu karkandhuh” |”kalalam tv eka-ratrena” |”panca-ratrena budbudam” |”pesy andam va tatah param” – 3-31-2
says Bhagavata Purana
Translation : On the first night, the sperm and ovum mix, and on the fifth night the mixture ferments into a bubble. On the tenth night it develops into a form like a plum, and after that, it gradually turns into a lump of flesh or an egg.
Bhagavata Purana describes all the microscopic changes taking place up to 15 days of the embryonic life, in a womb of a living woman. Science has 2 used microscopes, uterine wash-outs, post-mortem examinations, etc and arrived at same conclusion.
“bahv-anghry-ady-anga-vigrahah” |”linga-cchidrodbhavas tribhih” |”masena tu siro dvabhyam” |”nakha-lomasthi-carmani” – 3-31-3
In the course of a month, a head is formed, and at the end of two months the hands, feet and other limbs take shape. By the end of three months, the nails, fingers, toes, body hair, bones and skin appear, as do the organ of generation and the other apertures in the body, namely the eyes, nostrils, ears, mouth and anus.
Bhagavata Purana states that the Linga i.e. external genitalia are formed in the third month. Science has revealed that external genitalia are present in 8 weeks’ old embryo. According to science male genitalia take their final form at the end of the 3rd month and Utero-vaginal canal also forms by the third month. Anus is formed some time after the genitals.
“aturbhir dhatavah sapta | pancabhih ksut-trd-udbhavah | sadbhir jarayuna vitah | kuksau bhramyati daksine”
Within four months from the date of conception, the seven essential ingredients of the body, namely chyle, blood, flesh, fat, bone, marrow and semen, come into existence. At the end of five months, hunger and thirst make themselves felt, and at the end of six months, the fetus, enclosed by the amnion, begins to move on the right side of the abdomen.

In the 7th month the soul of embryo remembers everything about its past lives and also gets knowledge about the present life. Science cannot demonstrate this fact, but it can be inferred indirectly. The foetus of 7th month is viable, so its brain must be functioning in the 7th month.
Electro-encephalographic tracings of the foetus may prove this in future.
Kapil Muni describes that the foetus lies with complete flexion of its back and head. It is a fact and is scientifically proved. He also said that the foetus is unable to do respiration. This is also true, because the foetus lies in the amniotic fluid and requires no breathing. The foetus gets oxygen and nourishment from the mother’s blood. Kapil Muni also says that in the 10th month the foetus is forced down by Prasooti Vayu, through the maternal passage. During this process of delivery, the foetus gets lot of troubles and loses its past memory.
Science cannot give any proof for the loss of memory, but we can assess it by the fact that during delivery foetal head is compressed to a great extent.
It may compress the brain, which in turn, may cause loss of memory. It is a proved fact that compression and concussion of human brain causes loss of memory.
In 1972, Dr. H.P.Robinson of Glasgow University, showed using ultrasonic Doppler technique, that the heart begins at about 12-14 weeks.
Bhagavata Purana states that two ears develop and gets knowledge of sound and directions. Two separate functions are attributed to the ears, clearly. It is proved true during 1936 when Ross and Tait published their paper showing that the directions are recognized by the Labyrinth, situated in the Internal ears.
Aitereya Upanishad (1/1/4 and 1/2/4, written in 6000 BC) mentions the same fact.

The Bhagavata Purana gives microscopic details about the origin of a person (Purusha). It is narrated in a form of a story of He and She. (3/6/1-5)
He noticed that unless He and She unite, reproduction is not possible.
Therefore He conjugated with She. He entered into her 23 principles and brought together all the 23 principles.
He stimulated her creative energy. Her 23 principles got activated, they conjugated with his 23 principles and the combined energy of those 23 principles reproduced the person.
Modern science has shown that 23 chromosomes of a sperm join with those of an ovum and then an embryo forms.
Chromosomes are called as Gunawidhi in bhagavata purana and mahabharata because they control Guna (characters) and Widhi (functions).
Ancient Indian sages revealed that Jeevatma(soul) is not perishable. At the time of death, it leaves the physical body and goes to Bhuvarloka. Then it comes down with rainwater, enters a food grain, goes in to a male and occupies a sperm.
With that sperm it enters the female and joins with an ovum to create an offspring. The sperm on which rides Atman gets success to win an ovum.
During one coitus 200 to 300 millions of sperms are deposited in a female passage.
Out of them only one enters an ovum. Why that one only? Science says it is a chance.
And why not a woman gets pregnant everytime she mates a man during her fruitful days ?
Embryo is the first descent of a fraction of Aatma. That part of Aatma is named as Praana.
Praana enters in and guides the sperm to enter an ovum.
So, only that single sperm which is driven by the child’s soul will enter woman’s womb.
Vedic Astrology has proved that it can derive the date of pregnancy, gender of child, date of delivery too, based on horoscopes of parents.

Dinosaurs have been witnessed by yadava boys

Dinosaur was mentioned to have been witnessed by yadava boys during Krishna’s regime in dwaraka around 3100 BCE. Bhagavatam, written by sage veda vyas describes about a huge hill sized lizard (chameleon) in canto 10, chapter 64.One day Samba, Pradyumna, Caru, Bhanu, Gada and other young boys of the Yadu dynasty went to a small forest to play. After playing for a long time, they became thirsty. As they searched for water, they looked inside a dry well and saw a peculiar creature. The boys were astonished to behold this creature, a lizard who looked like a hill. They felt sorry for it and tried to lift it out of the well. They caught on to the trapped lizard with leather thongs and then with woven ropes, but still they could not lift it out. So they went to Lord Krishna and excitedly told Him about the creature.Krishna fetched him out of well and the dinosaur reveals its identity as King Nriga, who was son was Ikshvaku. Nriga was ancestor of Rama, who also belonged to Ikshvaku dynasty.
Nriga narrates his story as : I gave in charity many cows to a brahmin, but one cow returned to its herd without my knowledge.Unaware of this, I proceeded to give that cow in charity to a different brahmin. At this time, the cow’s original owner came there and claimed, ‘This cow is mine!’ The second brahmana responded, ‘No. She is mine. Nriga gave her to me.’While arguing in this way, the two brahmanas approached me. When they accused me of giving for a second time a cow that I had already given in charity, thus committing a greatly sinful act, I became bewildered.
Finding myself in such a terrible dilemma, I humbly entreated, ‘O brahmanas, please be merciful to me, for I am your servant, and had acted innocently, without knowing what I was doing. I will give each of you 100,000 of the best cows, in exchange for this one disputed cow, and thus rectify my mistake. Please accept my offer and thus save me from this difficult situation, or I shall surely fall down into hell. The second owner of the cow said, ‘I don’t want anything in exchange for this cow’ and the original owner said, ‘I will not accept even more than what you are offering.’Both thought that the cow was theirs, and thus could not be taken back under any condition. While considering that their rightful position had been usurped, the two brahmanas angrily left my palace and returned home.At the time when I gave up my body, and then Yamaraja said, ‘My dear King, which would you like to experience first? Would you like to enjoy the results of your pious acts, or would you first like to suffer the results of your sins? I can see no limit to the charity that you had given, or the enjoyment in heaven that you will consequently receive.

Being bewildered, I replied, ‘My lord, first of all let me suffer for my misdeeds.’ Yamaraja responded by saying, ‘Then fall!’ and at once, I was transformed into a lizard and remained within a well for a long time. But somehow, due to my charitable disposition toward the brahmanas, and my great desire to one day have Your audience, I continued to think of You, even in my degraded condition, and I could remember everything about my past life.Krishna then sent him to heaven. This story of King Nriga(Nruga) reveals that ancient indians knew and even saw dinosaurs (hill sized lizards) around 5000 years ago.
Not only this but also many more information are there about dinosaurs in our histories. "Central India was the largest dinosaur nesting site in the world". "India has the largest number of eggs and nests from a single time interval (68 to 65 million years ago) representing the Lamenta Formation sediments which are believed to have been deposited at the time of Deccan volcanic activity. Other countries, such as China, Mongolia and the USA have several horizons from which dinosaur eggs have been isolated, but not from a single formation, as in India. What actually counts in the preservation of eggs is really not how many eggs were laid but how many of these were preserved as fossils. The process of fossilisation is selective and as we all know eggs tend to rot easily. For preservation of the Indian dinosaur eggs, it is believed that frequent flooding and covering of nests and eggs by sediments led to better preservation. There is evidence of flooding in the Lamenta sediments where nests have been found. On the surface on which the nests and eggs are exposed, we find pebbles of fairly large size, which could only have been brought there by flood waters."
According to hindu evolution  theory: Fish or aquatic animals, when exposed to the grounds, developed a need to breathe properly, so they developed a lung-like structure and became frogs (an amphibian). These frogs kept on jumping all the time and disturbing the atmosphere, so the nature pushed them down and they became reptiles like lizards, snakes and crocodiles. Tired of their slow motion they then evolved into running dinosaurs, from a miniature size to a real monstrous size. Feeling great they stamped the grounds of Asia, Europe and America when an unknown natural calamity happened and all the big dinosaurs died around 65 million years ago. They lived between 250 to 65 million years ago.

Origin of Dhanushkodi

Ravana the King of Lanka Kidnapped Sita , the wife of Sri Ram as a Revenge for his Sister Sooparnakha , who wants to marry Sri Ram, and her nose was cut by Lakshmana to teach her a lesson.

Sri Ram and Lakshman along with army of Sughreeva and hanuman came to rescue her. to reach lanka they had to cross the vast ocean and reach Lanka. Sri Ram ordered the Ocean to leave his way but the ocean showed no sign . Sri Ram pulled a bow to dry the Ocean , as to teach the arrogant ocean a lesson. The Ocean prayed to Sri Ram to under stand that he was bound to stay at his position and he must pray to Lord Shiva for the solution. Raam has already set the arrow in the bow , he asked the Ocean where else could he shoot the arrow if not at him , Ocean suggested a useless barren dweep ( small island) which lies on the way to Lanka. Raam shoot the arrow at it, its now called as Dhanushkodi, and made it fertile.

Homeopathy concepts in bhagavatham

Homeopathy system of alternative medicine originated in 1796 by German Physician Samuel Hahnemann.
This is based on his doctrine of similia similibus curentur (“Let like be cured by like“), according to which a substance that causes the symptoms of a disease in healthy people will cure similar symptoms in sick persons.
Hippocrates wrote of curing ‘like with like‘ more than 2,000 years ago but it was formally systematized by Hahnemann.

But, the same principle was explained in Bhagavata Purana, which was written by Sage Veda Vyas around 5000 years ago (3100 BCE).
In this book, Sage Narada explains to Vyas :
“आमयो यस्च भूतानां जयते येन सुव्रता |
तदेव याम्यहम द्रव्यं न पुनती चिकितसितम ||”
“(Aamayo yascha boothanam jayathae yena suvratha |
thadeva yhamayam dhravyam na punathi chikitsitham||)”
Aamayo – Diseases, yascha – whatever, bhootanam – of the living being, jayathae – become possible, yena – by the agency, suvratha – of the good soul, thad – that, eva – very, dhravyam – thing, na – does it not, punathi – cure, chikitsitham – treated with.
The same substance which contributes to a particular malady cannot ordinarily counteract the disease, but when taken in a properly medicated form does cure the ailment.
For example, milk or food prepared with milk can cause disorder of stomach. But when same milk is made into curd and mixed up with remedial ingredients in smaller quantities will cure this disorder.
The onion, which produces tears in the eye and irritation (similar to a cold), can be used as a homeopathic medicine to cure colds which have irritating tears.
It is evident that ancient indians used this principle in different ways with statements like Vishasya Visham Aushadam (Poison is the medicine for poison) and Ushnam Ushnena Seetalam/Santi (Heat can be tackled by heat to make it cold) and cured diseases of humans and cattle since ages in Ayurveda.

Name of Raam is more powerful than Raam himself

In Ramayana While building the bridge across the ocean, Hanumanji played an active role. One day, Lord Rama came up to watch the construction. He noticed that Hanuman had a queue of monkeys standing in front of him with big boulders and rocks.Hanuman took one rock from one monkey and wrote the name ‘Ram’ on it. He threw it into the ocean. The rock just stood without submerging. On that, the other rocks and boulders stood and hence the bridge was getting constructed.Rama watched this with amazement. He started wondering how this could happen. How could mere writing of his name on the stone make it stand in water? He wondered if it had anything to do with Hanuman. He thought of trying it out himself to find out.

He felt that if this was due to Hanuman’s faith, and if Rama himself had none of that faith, it would be very embarrassing. He waited till it was dark. He wanted to make sure that no one was watching him try out the power of his name.In the darkness, he did not see Hanuman watching him go to the river. Rama slowly crept near the river and took a stone. He wrote the name ‘Ram’ on it. He threw the stone into the ocean. The stone sank into the waters. Lord Rama tried it for a few more stones, but they all met the same result.Suddenly, the Lord’s eyes fell on Hanumanji, who was smiling and asked the Lord, “My Lord, what are You doing?”Lord Rama replied that he was unable to understand why the stone thrown by Him could not float on the waters.Hanumanji smiled, “My Lord, by the virtue of Your Name, even stones float on the waters. But, if You Yourself let go of the stone, who can save the stone? So the stone sinks in the water.”Lord Rama smiled on hearing Hanuman’s interpretation of this incident.
Its even said that “Raam se Bada Raam ka Naam”, the name of Raam is more powerful than Raam himself.
